An interesting track beside the railway, with a good view of the Markle fisheries. Fairly steep ascent just past Markle fisheries. Take care the paths can be a bit rough and muddy in wet weather.

From The Square go past The Crown and turn right down Bank Road
At the junction carry straight on the path through the park, past the school, until you reach Rennie Place
Follow the road round until you see the sign for Markle
Turn left, follow the path, at Markle turn left
Follow the road over the level crossing until you reach the path to Markle fisheries
Follow the path, go quietly through the fisheries then up the hill beside the wood, cross the stile and follow the field edge
Turn left steeply down a grassy track till you reach the railway
Turn right and follow the field edge till you reach the tunnel, turn left through the tunnel and rejoin the path through the park back to The Square
