Chairman's report for the year ending 31st March 2020 presented to the Annual General Meeting date tbc
Postholders for the year were: J Priest Chairman; A Cosgrove Vice-chairman; J Swift Secretary and J Robson Treasurer.
Members: Alan Reid and Colin McWhannell joined the Community Council, Julia Parish resigned; we are one member short for the East Linton ward. This year our members have, among other things:
studied and responded to a number of consultations including ELCís Climate Change Strategy, Dunbar Area Plan, East Linton station.
discussed and in some cases objected to planning applications and breaches of permission including Karele riding charity, a house at Whitekirk, Whitekirk Hill holiday lodges.
continued discussions with residents about maintenance of common ground
funded, built and installed more new benches along our footpath network
updated and published a new edition of the Walks around East Linton leaflet
continued to support the East Lothian Countryside Volunteers and volunteer path wardens
continued the discussion of the fish passage or removal of Knowes Weir
supported Whitekirk Hall with an Area Partnership grant
obtained a grant for repairing the Fountain after three attempts
supported the Community Hall with an Area Partnership grant for hand-driers obtained a grant for a speed reactive sign for A198 at Tyninghame and asked for better signs at the Lawhead junction
made sure the trial 20mph in East Linton was made permanent
supported the Horticultural Society in keeping East Linton blooming
reported flood debris in the river and broken streetlights, potholes etc to ELC.
maintained the defibrillators and purchased new batteries as needed.
Members continued to represent the Dunpender community on various groups and at a number of consultations and meetings this year including the new Community Hospital, ELC Bus Forum, Community Rail Partnership, RELBUS, RAGES, CAPP, two Area Partnerships, Association of EL Community Councils, John Muir Country Park and Joint Laws Advisory Groups, Countryside Volunteers and the Local Access Forum.
Dunpender News this year and have written a short report each month for the East Linton & District Advertiser (many thanks for the free space we are given) as well as ensuring our news is on the website.
Thanks go once again to Alastair Seagroatt who looks after our website,www.eastlinton.uk.com, to Ms Hunter who since September has taken the minutes for our meetings and to all members for their hard work throughout the year.
