Visiting - What to do?
Biking
Tantallon - bikes
Tantallon Castle

The cycling in the area is superb with the Sustrans Route 76 running through East Linton, quiet country roads, forest tracks, off road lanes and a visual feast of scenery, sounds and sights along the way. You can even cycle along the beaches sometimes if the sand is firm enough. If you want something a little more taxing there is a fine circuit over the Lammermuirs through Garvald or Gifford, which provide hill ascents over some glorious countryside and descents down to the Whiteadder and the Borders. Edinburgh is 25 miles away and can be cycled linking quiet country roads or cycleways.

Bass Rock - bikes
Ravensheugh & the Bass Rock

For mountain bikers there is off road cycling in the Lammermuirs, but you will need full safety gear & waterproofs etc as you are in a hill environment. Further afield in the Scottish Borders there is Glentress with its many varied, graded forest runs and Innerleithen with its extreme grade downhill runs and red X-country run. Both are part of the Seven Stanes project. Spokes publish a superb cycle map of East Lothian which is full of interesting information as well as a variety of suggestions and clear gradient marking etc. There are also some cycling and running routes round the area on www.mapmyride.com

Mountain Biking, Glentress

Bikes can be hired from Law Cycles in North Berwick and Belhaven Bikes, based in Dunbar.

If you are coming up by train the nearest stations are Dunbar or Drem and if you are visiting Edinburgh why not take your bike along on the train?
