East Linton Drama Group - The Women of Lockerbie

The American writer Deborah Brevoort's play, 'The Women of Lockerbie', centres around the little known Lockerbie Laundry Project, where local women volunteered to sort and wash over 11,000 articles over the course of a year, then package and return them to American relatives. It's a very moving but inspiring play which has won many awards, has been performed all over the world and is about the triumph of love over hate.

The central characters are the parents of a deceased young American student who are visiting Lockerbie for a commemoration service and the local women who try to help them overcome their grief and the resistance of the American authorities who try to forbid access to the victims' clothing which has been stored in a warehouse for seven years.
